Zakat allocated through the Islamic Philanthropy Fund (IPF) is directed to humanitarian programmes that address urgent needs among eligible populations, in line with Islamic law and IOM’s humanitarian mandate.
Allocation decisions are guided by needs and vulnerability assessments conducted by IOM country teams, drawing on displacement data, humanitarian analysis, and UN-coordinated response plans. Zakat funds are prioritised for individuals and families who fall within recognised eligible categories, including the poor, the needy, and people displaced or affected by crisis.
All Zakat allocations follow IOM’s established operational procedures and are subject to internal review and oversight. The use of Zakat funds is aligned with Shariah principles, used exclusively for the purpose selected by the donor, and overseen by the Islamic Philanthropy Fund Advisory Body, which provides guidance to ensure compliance, accountability, and appropriate use of funds.
