Sumabato SP 73 was a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate superregional held in Daito City, Osaka Prefecture on September 27th, 2026.
Tournament summary[edit]
The event was initially an A tier on the UltRank 2026 TTS but it would end up falling just below the threshold following Raru dropping out and Raki and Matsukei's disqualifications. However, retroactive retiering would later restore its A-tier status as the large amount of upsets and surprise performances that occured at SHIBUYA DAIRAN -Second Strike- resulted in many players having their point values increased, though this events remains a disputed major on SmashWiki.
This tournament marks Yoshidora's first superregional or above tournament win since Sumabato SP 39. After being sent to losers by Yone_pi one round before top 8 he would beat Senra, Karaage, Taikei, Rearlet, Rarikkusu and Yone_pi twice to win the tournament.
Some Notable upsets took place at this tournament, mainly that the top 2 seeds Asimo and Snow would both be knocked out before top 12. Asimo would be upset by 33rd seed Atakaataka and would be knocked out by 14th seed Ataru, while Snow would get beaten by 34th seed Yn and would be knocked out, in the biggest upset of the tournament with an upset factor of 10, by 60th seed Senra.
