Collected

Centuries of art, saved and shared

22 May – 5 September 2027

Ground Floor Galleries

Discover a treasure trove of rare and remarkable art

Painting and ceramics by Picasso. A glittering cup with a thousand-year history. An 18th-century goldfish bowl owned by an eccentric collector. This exhibition at the National Gallery is a little bit different.

Featuring unexpected gems alongside iconic paintings, ‘Collected’ showcases some of the very best works acquired for the UK through the Art Council’s Acceptance in Lieu and Cultural Gifts schemes.

Brought from private hands into public care, encounter paintings by Rembrandt, Renoir and Lucian Freud alongside rare objects from across the UK.

Visit ‘Collected’ from 22 May 2027 and explore a unique group of more than 40 works gathered together for the first time at the National Gallery. Travel through centuries of artistic treasures and celebrate our shared cultural heritage.
