When AI is used in our schools, parents and educators deserve transparency, students deserve safety, and everyone deserves strong privacy protections. That’s what this agreement between AFT, UFT and Microsoft delivers, with enforceable safeguards that put students and their families & their educators first. AFT President Randi Weingarten, United Federation Of Teachers President Michael Mulgrew, and Microsoft Vice Chair and President Brad Smith discussed this National AI Safety & Privacy Standard today. "The AFT is embarking on an ambitious political program to elect leaders who will help achieve the America we dream of: An America where everyone has opportunity and economic security. An America where everyone’s dignity and freedoms are respected. An America whose democracy not only endures but finally lives up to its noble ideals. That’s the America that this bigger, badder, big-hearted union and our 1.88 million members are fighting for." Happy May Day! Today is all about the power of workers coming together to demand a better life—but as AFT President Randi Weingarten reminds us this week, our fights are far from over. From celebrating huge, historic contract wins for medical faculty in New Jersey, to ending a 20-year fight to restore public employee pensions in Alaska, union members are getting it done! 💥 BUT, we also have to talk about the recent Supreme Court decision gutting the Voting Rights Act. 🗣️ TAKE ACTION: Take 2 minutes today to check your voter registration, and ask at least ONE friend to do the same. Elections matter. Let’s show them what union power looks like at the ballot box! 🗳️💪 aft.turbovote.org

Join us April 30 for a webinar with AFT's Randi Weingarten; Vin Gupta, MD MPA; S. Monica Soni, MD and an AFT member for a timely discussion on health care affordability in America. Many Americans are facing a growing challenge that extends beyond any one of us: the rising cost of health care. New survey data from AFT members reveals the real impact of medical debt—including delayed or forgone care—and what it means for our collective well-being and our communities. Together, they’ll explore the connection between medical debt and health outcomes, share key findings from AFT’s latest survey and examine what can be done to improve access to affordable, high-quality care.
