On 25 January 2026 at a special “Genkidamatsuri” (ゲンキダマツリ) event, held in conjunction with the Dragon Ball franchise’s 40th anniversary celebration, voice actor Koichi Yamadera (Beerus) was welcomed on stage to announce that an enhanced edition of the Dragon Ball Super television series, which had been in production for several years, was slated for a Fall 2026 debut. The updated refresh of the series would be titled Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, beginning with the Battle of Gods story arc. The series was announced to feature enhanced visuals, new and redrawn cuts, revisions to existing scenes, newly recorded dialogue with added music and sound effects, and an overall reconstruction of the story to provide a faithful representation of the original work by Akira Toriyama. A launch trailer and poster were released alongside the announcement.

A new trailer showcasing the series’ enhanced visual styles and effects with battle scenes between Goku and Beerus was later debuted at a special panel held on 19 April 2026 at the “DRAGON BALL Games Battle Hour 2026” event in Los Angeles. The trailer closed with a tease of Freeza in a rejuvenation tank, a nod to the next story arc in the original series, Resurrection ‘F’. Alongside the trailer, several video messages were shown from the likes of Jason Douglas (English voice of Beerus), Akio Iyoku (Dragon Ball franchise executive producer), Koichi Yamadera (Japanese voice of Beerus), and Masako Nozawa (Japanese voice of Son Goku).

The Dragon Ball Official Site released a final trailer and main visual on 03 September 2026, along with announcing an official premiere date of 11 October 2026. The series would be broadcast nationwide on Fuji TV, picking up the same timeslot two years to the date from the debut of the Dragon Ball Daima television series in 2024. Originally announced with just refreshed Battle of Gods content, and later teased to also include refreshed Resurrection ‘F’ content, this trailer included several shots from the God of Destruction Champa arc, the third overall story arc of the series.
