Syncopy Productions

From the Audiovisual Identity Database, the motion graphics museum

Syncopy is the production company of Christopher Nolan and his wife Emma Thomas. It was founded on February 27, 2001, but no logo was used until 2008. Most of its films are distributed through Warner Bros. Pictures. The company is named after the term "syncopation" (a variety of rhythms played together to make a piece of music). It was suggested to Nolan by his father Brendan, a classical music fan.

Visuals: Over a black background, a box appears with a labyrinth carved inside, with two exits breaking the box outline. The word "S Y N C O P Y" emerges from the depths of the box. The whole logo has a few barely visible stripes, as if it was ripped from a VHS.

Variants: The color scheme of the logo varies with each movie it appears on.

Technique: CGI by Kelly Carlton at Intralink Film Graphic Design.

Audio: None or the opening theme of the film.
