Gameloft

From the Audiovisual Identity Database, the motion graphics museum

Gameloft is a game company best known for its numerous games for mobile and portable platforms. It was created in 1999 as an affiliate of Ubisoft by co-founder Michel Guillemot. The company would later be bought by French media conglomerate Vivendi in 2016.

1st Logo (October 12, 2007-May 6, 2010)

Visuals: The screen zooms inside a square orange tunnel (a la the 3rd Ubisoft logo), with cream silhouettes of everyday objects (in order: a soccer ball, two figurines, a joystick, a star, a brick and a small ball and a heart). Multicolored squares and lines are also seen. The logo zooms a lot faster inside the tunnel, until it fades into the orange letters "gameloft" with a rotated "e" and a white outline on a black background. The text emits an orange light.

Variants:

  • On Real Football 2008, a short prototype version has the logo flashing out at the end.
  • The "gameloft" text was redesigned in mid-2008, and the logo is on a white background instead of a black one.
  • A still variant exists.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: An electronic, synth tune is heard at first. A held, high-note choir is heard at the end.

Availability: The animated version debuted in 2007 (starting with Real Football 2008) and appeared on early games, such as Brain Challenge for Nintendo DS and PC. It was last seen on the trailer of Hero of Sparta II (the game itself uses the 2010 logo).

2nd Logo (January 26, 2010-)

Visuals: Three blue lines fly in from the top right. They all form a silver letter "G" with a line that makes the letter "l". The "G" starts to brighten up, causing the screen to shake. Then, the letter forms a purple explosion, causing the letters "GAMELOFT" to appear. Lastly, the entire logo shines.

Variants:

  • Just like before, a short variant exists.
  • There are a couple still variants of this logo. These are:
    • A steel version of the logo.
    • The print version of the logo.
      • A blue background version exists.
  • On Asphalt 9: Legends (later known as Asphalt Legends Unite, then currently known as Asphalt Legends), the logo is made of steel and animates differently. First, a multiple shots of the silver "G". Seconds later, the screen zooms out of the "G", which is spinning, causing it to center itself. "GAMELOFT" is lastly seen, which is formed from blue beams. It was then later removed.
  • In 2019, the company celebrated its 20th anniversary. Here, the logo is horizontal, pushed to the left, entirely still and the number "20" in a stylized three-tiered manner and "YEARS" below in a more basic font stacked placed beside the logo.
    • Just like the standard version, a blue background version exists.
  • In 2024, the company celebrated its 25th anniversary. Here, the vertical logo is pushed to the left and next to it is the number "25" in four multicolored lines.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: Several whooshes, then a synth note and an odd xylophone-like noise. Otherwise, it's silent.
