EIRIN

From the Audiovisual Identity Database, the motion graphics museum

The Film Classification and Rating Organization, also known as EIRIN is the Japanese self-regulatory film regulator that was created in 1949 and oversees the Japanese film rating system for theatrical exhibition and previously, video releases. While EIRIN never uses their logo (and its rating logos) aside from superimposed animation on Japanese theatrical films (both on the film's title cards and on the film's credits respectively), animated logos were specifically created for films related to Gainax/Khara's Neon Genesis Evangelion franchise.

1st Logo (March 15, 1997)

Visuals: On a black background, there is the EIRIN approval symbol in red as it zooms like a trail until it is placed in the center, the EIRIN symbol has the film's approval number. After the symbol is placed, the words "新世紀エヴァンゲリオン劇場版" (Japanese for Neon Genesis Evangelion the Movie) appear before quickly fading to black to start the film.

Technique: Traditional animation.

Audio: A swooshing sound ending with a bang-like sound.
