Draft:KWSU

From the Audiovisual Identity Database, the motion graphics museum

KWSU was a PBS station affiliate located in Pullman, Washington, which was owned and operated by the Washington State University. On December 31, 2025, it went off the air just a few days before the Corporation for Public Broadcasting shut down.

1st Logo (January 30, 1976-1977?)

Visuals: On a black background, blue static fills the screen while a pink set of outlines revolve around the middle. As the static shrinks to the middle, the text then revolves into the pink text "KWSU" in the Stop font, with "presents" in the same color fading in below in ITC Avant Garde Gothic. The logo then briefly disappears before compressing into the background, with "presents" wiping away.

Trivia: The "W" in the "KWSU" text is actually an upside-down "M".

Variant: A shorter variant exists.

Technique: Scanimate and video feedback effects.

Audio: A distorted synthesized theme.

2nd Logo (1983-1986)

Visuals: On a sky blue background, a baby blue line draws across the screen. It then draws down and to the right, sprouting the text "KWSU" from it. The line retracts when it finishes and "A PRESENTATION OF" slides out of it from the top, while "PULLMAN, WA" slides out of the bottom.

Variant: On sports programs, on a cyan background it starts with "KWSU" drawing in. The "PULLMAN, WA" text is replaced with, "SPORTS." It ends with a square with a red border spinning around and taking up the entire screen, which then shrinks and covers the screen in black outside the border.

Technique: Computer animation.

Audio: The end of "Beechwood" by Walter Murphy.

Audio Variant: The KWSU Sports version has a long, drawn out synth pad followed by a laser sound.
