Berzerk Studio is a Canadian indie video game company founded in 2008 in Quebec.

1st Logo (December 24, 2008-July 15, 2013)

Visuals: The back of a muscular Viking berserker is seen in a harsh B&W style, before turning around and rearing back, arms apart and in a leaned-back position. He is muscular, wearing a helmet adorned with elk horns and various accessories, covering most of his face barring his angular white eyes, and has a large belt, wrist gauntlets, and a studded shoulder pad. The berserker then roars loudly, shaking vigorously as he does, and a black aura surrounds him while the screen flashes a black vignette effect rapidly. After a second of powering up, he rears forward and poses defiantly with his fists out in front of the screen, lightning striking in the background that causes the screen to rapidly invert colors. After the lightning stops, the Viking disappears, leaving his helmet, and the text "BERZERK" is seen in a large grungy font, with the "Z" larger than the rest of the letters and making up part of a border around the word, which in turn is surrounded by a dirty outline. "STUDIO" can be seen in the lower right of the "Z" in white, and below, the URL is seen in a grungy font. The logo then fades out.

Variants:

  • The logo's resolution may be wider than usual on some games.
  • On Gornax, the graphics have a sharp look to them and the URL reads "WWW.BERZERK-LAND.COM".

Technique: Hand-drawn Flash animation.

Audio: A heavy metal riff plays throughout as the sounds of the viking's guttural scream and thunder are heard.

2nd Logo (May 31, 2018-)

Visuals: In a dark red environment, an imposing figure is seen in the darkness before his eyes light up with a spark of electricity, glowing pure white as more of the shadow is revealed to be an imposing, muscular man who is the Viking berserker from before, but redesigned. Compared to before, he's in full color and has a more exaggerated figure, lacks any decorations on his horns, replaces his shoulder pad with a cross-strapped chest piece, gains a skull belt buckle, and has blood on his hands. The Viking leans back, blue energy emitting around him in an aura, and then rears back as he screams loudly, the very earth rising around him, and the camera tilts back to a lower, more imposing angle as the surrounding area is revealed to be a dark red rocky area with curved spikes jutting out of the surface. The camera then leans back up and the Viking leans forward and slams his fists together, spraying blood out of them. The screen then cuts to a white background as the head of the Viking, slightly more detailed and the red tint gone, fades in the center of the screen, bobbing up a bit to make room for "BERZERK" in a chrome heavy metal font, with "S T U D I O" below spaced out and surrounded by a black border, fades in below.

Variants:

  • On Just Shapes & Beats, the logo is censored by removing the blood from the Viking's hands (the blood is still be seen before he rears back) and replacing the blood squirt with a burst of blue energy.
  • On Berzerk Flashback, the logo is still on an illuminated brown background.
  • On Infernax, the logo is animated in a pixel art style and has a red color scheme. The logo also makes use of "energy burst" transitions, the aura produces additional purple beam effects, and the land is flatter.

Technique: Hand-drawn animation done in-house by Marc-Antoine[1].

Audio: A fade-in bass note is heard, followed by an electric spark noise, before it transitions into the audio from the previous logo. The Infernax variant has an 8-bit chiptune rendition of the rock tune, with "crackling" representing the energy burst.

Availability Notes: While the logo was officially debuted on Just Shapes and Beats, it originally appeared, uncensored, on Marc-Antoine's channel, Doudonde, on August 25, 2015.
