Abril Vídeo was the home video division of Grupo Abril, one of the biggest publishers in Brazil, founded in 1983 and a major VHS distributor of mainly Disney videos. Grupo Abril's ties to Disney date to 1950, as they are an official distributor of their comics in Brazil. Abril Video would later become the official distributor of 20th Century Fox and Playboy Home Video videos for years. The company, however, would be dissolved in 1999 due to Disney and Fox now publishing their own titles domestically, as well as the slow decline of VHS as a leading format.
Visuals: In a black background, the Grupo Abril logo is drawn with green outlines, before being completely filled with whitish-green gradient. The logo zooms out and the words "abril" and "video" (both written in a boxy font) appear on each side of the logo; drawn by colorful vertical lines which then fade away and the words are painted green.
Technique: Oxberry camera animation.
Audio: A short, sparkling synth vignette. There's also narration by Jorge Barcellos saying: "An Abril Video production for TV Gazeta, channel 11".
Visuals: In a screen divided by three blue gradients, the Abril Video logo rises up in the upper section, painted in white. This is followed by the word "APRESENTA" appearing in the middle section; also painted in white.
Visuals: Over footage of fireworks at night, the Abril Video logo fades in with a white color and a barely-visible black drop shadow. The logo consists of a stylized tree with many outlined leaves, which is sandwiched between the text "abril vídeo" in a boxy font that's also segmented. The spaced-out text "apresenta" in a more generic font, quickly appears below after the logo fades in. After a few seconds, the logo and text fade out at different speeds, leaving the fireworks before they cut to black.
Trivia: The footage shown was filmed in Bratislava, Czechoslovakia (now Slovakia) during New Year's Eve.
Technique: Live-action and computerized 2D graphics.
Audio: Either the 2nd half of the 1986 Walt Disney Home Video logo's music, or a loud, triumphant synth fanfare.

Visuals: On a black background, the camera zooms out from a multi-colored metallic tunnel, changing colors as it reveals the Abril logo, now in green. As it zooms out, the inside turns blue, then silver, as several stripes retract. As the logo settles into place, the stripes reveal themselves to be the same "abril vídeo" text, of which the stripes turn green once they retracted. The tree then turns 2.5D (keeping a bevel effect) and the background fades to a dark grey background with barely visible Abril trees.
Technique: Zooming effects and CGI.
Audio: A descending synth "wah" sound, with laser sounds for the stripes, and then ending with a "bong". A variant had an announcer and the beginning of the 2nd international Walt Disney Home Video logo.
5th Logo (1994-1999)
The capture for this identity does not cite a source.
Visuals: On a rotating and zooming space background, 2 large stone filmstrips fly across the top and bottom of the screen, each embossed with a white background with a filmstrip going up at an angle, as well as having a translucent green Abril logo on them. Upon reaching the end of the filmstrips, an additional one comes down from the top and shows a 3D Abril logo, colored in silver with green faces, coming up from the bottom of the screen and flying up. As it zooms into the screen, 2 additional silver/green monoliths come in from behind the camera and rotate down to reveal themselves as the same "abril vídeo" from before, but without any stripes in them. The tree then rotates a full turn before everything settles into place, the filmstrip background taking up the whole screen.
Variants:
A short variant exists, with just the animation shown on the filmstrip playing. The logo is also a bit smaller.
Starting in 1998, the company would be referred to as Videos Abril. The name would be updated to be reflected as such, and the text is now placed above the Abril logo in a stacked formation. The text also comes in from the left and right sides of the screen as well.
Technique: CGI.
Audio: An upbeat synth pop tune, with a guitar playing in the middle of the logo. The short version has it abridged.
Visuals: On a gray/black gradient space background, a VHS cassette zooms in and stays for a while. Afterwards, the tape label flashes. Next, the tape label stops flashing and the end label flashes. The VHS cassette then pauses.
Variant: On Disney tapes, the end label stops flashing and the Mickey Mouse hologram zooms in for clarification. The gray bar on the front end is absent. On other non-animated Disney tapes (primarily seen on Touchstone releases), an Camera hologram is revealed in the same manner as the Mickey hologram did.
Technique: Motion graphic animation.
Audio:
Non-Disney: "Reconheça uma fita legítima Abril Vídeo. Verifique a marca indelével com o nome do filme na face superior e o selo da UBV na lombada. Exija qualidade." (You should Recognize a legitimate April Video tape. Check for the indelible mark with the name of the film on the top and the UBV seal on the spine. Demand quality Tapes..)
Disney: "Reconheça uma fita Disney legítima. Verifique a marca indelével na face superior, o selo da UBV na lombada e o holograma com o Mickey Feiticeiro." (You Should Recognize a legitimate Disney tape. Check for the indelible mark on the top, the UBV stamp on the spine and the hologram with Sorcerer Mickey.)
Disney/Buena Vista: "Reconheça uma fita legítima Abril Vídeo. Verifique a marca indelével com o nome do filme na face superior, o selo da UBV na lombada e o holograma que garante a qualidade Disney." (You Should Recognize a legitimate Abril Video tape. Check for the indelible mark with the name of the movie on the top, the UBV seal on the spine and the hologram that guarantees Disney quality.)
Availability: The normal variant is seen on most tapes from the era, such as many Abril tapes. Releases with the Disney variant include Bambi, Aladdin, The Lion King, A Goofy Movie, and Toy Story,, while the Camera hologram variant has been spotted in a Brazilian tape of Die Hard with a Vengeance.
2nd Bumper (1995-1999)
Visuals: On a misty light blue background, a green VHS tape (a recreation of the ones being used by Abril Vídeo during this time) zooms out fom the bottom of the screen and spins to the center until it stops in a tilted position facing upward. The center sticker with the movie title (and the hologram awareness/copyright warning message) then zooms out into place and when it reaches the tape it flashes light blue. The UBV seal (the Portuguese title of the movie and the number code) then does the same thing. The floating VHS then stay still for a few seconds.
Variant: On Disney tapes, a Mickey Mouse hologram appears from the upper screen and comes to the left bottom of the VHS and flashing. On Touchstone/Hollywood Pictures/Miramax/Buena Vista tapes, a Disney hologram appears in the same manner.
Technique: Motion graphic animation.
Audio: A dramatic synth orchestra-style tune plays in the background.
Availability: The normal variant is seen on Brazilian tapes released from 1995-99, mainly from Abril Video. The Disney variant is seen on Disney tapes from Abril Video on the same era, and the other variant is seen on Touchstone/Hollywood Pictures/Miramax/Buena Vista tapes also from Abril Video in the same era.
Visuals: On a black background, a blue vertical bar slides in from the left to the right (with a blue glow on the left side of the bar). Six more bars do the same, each colored red, magenta, cyan, green, yellow and white, eventually forming the SMPTE color bars screen. After ten seconds, the bars wipe away vertically in different directions, with segmented areas behind each one.
Technique: 2D computer animation.
Audio: A snippet of the Jane Wiedlin song "Tangled" plays. At the beginning, a male voiceover is heard saying "Para seu conforto e qualidade, ajuste agora as cores e o som do seu equipamento."
Visuals: On the same rotating space background as the Abril logo, a prism zooms in and spins. A white line shoots into the prism and creates a rainbow on the other side. The prism continues spinning until it rests on the side where the rainbow is coming out. The rainbow continues to shine until it fades into the SMPTE colors. The Abril tree with a drop shadow is visible.
Technique: CGI animation.
Audio: An upbeat pop synth tune, followed by a calming synth tune.
