Summary
[edit | edit source]Creatures from another dimension have invaded Earth! Earth weapons are useless against these 'Neighbors,' but some scientists have created new weapons based on the enemy's technology. Using these weapons, humans struggle to defend themselves from the invaders.
The head of the central base has sent the ace soldier, Yūichi Jin, to help out the failing Base 7, and rescue his son Tadashi Yuiga, who is the leader there.
Unfortunately, the problem with Base 7 is, in fact, Tadashi. He's a terrible leader who cares for nothing but his own reputation and believes that being the central base leader's son allows him to do whatever he wants. Will Jin be able to fix this terrible situation?[1]
Characters in order of appearance
[edit | edit source]Major differences
[edit | edit source]- Instead of "Trigger", the Neighbors' technology is referred to as "Neighbor Craft".
- Jin is the protagonist rather than Osamu and Yūma, who are not seen in the manga.
- Masafumi Shinoda and Takumi Rindō don't exist, but Yōtarō has an older sister called Ruka and their surname is Shinoda.
- Additionally, Yōtarō is a combatant.
- Masamune Kido doesn't exist either, and Border's leader is Makoto Yuiga (similar to Makoto Chano and Takeru Yuiga). He also has a son called Tadashi, the leader of Base No. 7, who bears a resemblance to Takeru.
- Border's branches receive number designations instead of names, such as Base No. 7.

Q: Was there a reason that spurred you to drawing a character with Jin’s personality?
A: When it turned into drawing this one-shot as a prototype for World Trigger, I wanted to set aside Yūma and Osamu for serialisation feeling that using them in the one-shot would be a waste. So I asked Bapti-san if I could use a different protagonist, was given the OK, and so the story came to be about Jin, created to be a senpai character to Yūma and Osamu. Rather than "let’s draw Jin", I judged that Jin would be easier to draw. Compared to Yūma and Osamu, Jin had an easy to understand character that was fitting for a one-shot, so it all worked out well.
