“ A Shooter can manipulate bullet properties at will. Power, range, speed. You can adjust these three parameters in every attack. You can scatter small shrapnel or fire one big blast. The drawback is all that manipulation takes time, and you have to account for accuracy as well. You need good instincts to be effective. ”

–Kyōsuke Karasuma about Shooters, in Osamu Mikumo 5.[1]

A Shooter (射手(シューター), Shūtā Lit. Shooter ?) is a Border agent who specializes in the use of Gunner Triggers without relying on a firearm.[2]

A Shooter is a Border agent who specializes in the use of Gunner Triggers without relying on a firearm.

    Specifics

    [edit | edit source]

The Shooter position is one of the 9 official positions available to Border agents, one of the 7 directly involved in combat, and one of the 4 a trainee can seemingly be.[3] Any combatant who has scored the most of their solo points using a Gunner Trigger without a firearm is counted as a Shooter;[4] however if they have 6,000 points with both a Gunner Trigger and any Attacker Trigger, they are classified as an All-Rounder.[5] On the other hand, users of Gunner Triggers who utilize firearms are known as Gunners.[6]

    Overview

    [edit | edit source]

Much like Gunners, Shooters specialize in middle-range combat, with an emphasis on controlling the enemy's position.[7] Due to to the effectiveness of Shield, Shooters are mostly relegated to support roles, assisting allies from afar and regulating the flow of the battle.[8] Since they must also be able to take into account factors such as the goals of both teams, the conditions of the battlefield and the location of allies, frequently on the spot, Shooters are considered intellectual fighters,[9] even more so than Gunners: their Triggers are in fact more complex, and although this makes them more versatile, it also makes them more difficult to master.[1] Nonetheless, they can become quite dangerous when they use Full Attack,[10] and since they do not need their limbs to fight, they remain a threat even if their Trion Body is mutilated.[11]

Shooters fire bullets without summoning weapons, but by creating constructs, known as Trion cubes,[12] which they can then divide into multiple parts or shoot whole: the more bullets are fired, the lower their individual power. Furthermore, Shooters can modify the power vs range vs speed parameter ratio of their bullets on the fly,[1] as well as scatter and delay the shots to an extent. These additional abilities give them an advantage over Gunners at shorter distances,[13] although the number of operations a Shooter must perform before firing compared to a Gunner can potentially tip the scales back in the latter's favor.[14]

The four bullet types available to Shooters are Asteroid, Hound, Meteor and Viper,[15] which they can combine in real time to create composite bullets.[16] The amount of trion the user possesses determines the overall power and size of the trion cube, which is always at its maximum possible size when summoned.[17] In addition the effectiveness of these parameters increase with the amount of Trion the user has.[18][19] Since Shooters need to expend a lot of trion to be effective in combat, many of them have abundant trion reserves.[20]

    4. ↑ 4.0 4.1 Q: Kako doesn’t have a Gunner Trigger on her main Trigger side, so why is she a Shooter?
A: This comes from BBF. Thank you for reading. The positions are based on the equipped Trigger with the most solo points (except All-Rounders). Kako's Hound (Custom) that she equips in her sub has the highest solo points, and the Scorpion she equips in her main hasn’t reached 6,000 points yet, so she’s a Shooter. It looks like she wants to increase her Scorpion to over 6,000 points and become an All-Rounder. In the Galopoula Battle, it seems she equipped Hound (Custom) in her main too in preparation for a firefight.

    5. ↑ Q: How is an All-Rounder defined?
A: An All-Rounder is ‘an agent who has earned more than 6,000 solo points in both Attacker and Gunner Triggers respectively’. Right now Border’s overall level is on the rise and there are those who say it should be raised to above 8,000.

A: Trion Cube, nata de coco (fermented coconut cubes), sugar cube, Suwa, tofu, etc. Everyone calls it whatever they want.

A: It is always at its maximum size. Trion ability is exposed for the most part.

    22. ↑ Q: Exactly what numbers are used to decide the Separate Position ranking and the Solo Overall ranking? Is it the highest solo points? Or the total points of all the weapons?
A: It is the highest of the solo points. The Solo Overall ranking is decided from all the weapon points of all the agents based on who has the highest. From all of the Shooters, Ninomiya's Asteroid points are the highest -> Shooter ranking no.1. From all weapons of all of the agents, Tachikawa's Kogetsu points are the highest -> Solo Overall no.1, like that. If there was a total point ranking then Reiji would probably be no.1.

    25. ↑ 25.0 25.1 25.2 25.3 Q: I would like to know the rankings of the Gunners and Shooters like we do with the Attackers and Snipers.
A: From what I remember, The top 3 Shooters, from the top, are Ninomiya, Izumi, and Kako. Top 3 Gunners are Kazuma, Yuba, and Katagiri Top 3 All-Rounders are Reiji, Arashiyama, and Miwa.

He has over 10k in Asteroid and Viper though.

    41. ↑ Q: Are Shooters derived from Gunners? Who created the Shooter position and how did it happen?
A: The order is that Shooter came first. There are those suited for handling cube bullets and those who aren't, so gun triggers were developed so that anyone can use bullets with a high degree of accuracy, and Gunners were derived.
