Eizō Netsuki (根付 栄蔵, Netsuki Eizō ?) is Border's public relations director.
Appearance
[edit | edit source]Eizō is a thin, middle-aged man of frail appearance. He has chin-length hair and a big, arched nose, along with the usual relaxed or puzzled expression. Being a high-ranking member of Border, he often wears the same navy-colored suit.
Personality
[edit | edit source]Eizō is generally a calm individual, though he frequently becomes anxious when Border's public image is at risk. Despite his tendency to worry and his fearful moments, he typically addresses PR crises with a cool, pragmatic head and does not fear to get his hands dirty as demonstrated by his willingness to scapegoat Osamu after the aftermath of the Second Large-Scale Invasion[6]. He demonstrates corporate maturity and a strong sense of duty, notably telling Osamu Mikumo not to thank him for covering up Hyuse's Neighbor identity, stating it was simply his job[7] and mentioning he will bear full responsibility if the truth about Hyuse is ever revealed.[8] However, Netsuki is prone to outbursts and can display a grumpy, impatient disposition. This is evident when he firmly rejects Osamu's suggestion for Border to directly debunk the Hyuse rumors—a professional frustration likely exacerbated by Osamu previously hijacking a live press conference. Furthermore, Netsuki is quick to make pessimistic assumptions about others' motives. When Osamu first revealed Yūma Kuga was Yūgo's son, Netsuki instantly accused him of fabricating the story.[9] Netsuki later displayed similar cynicism by accusing him of self-preservation when Osamu claimed it was his failure as a captain that he didn't foresee the rumors about Hyuse[10]. His worrisome nature caused him to ruminate over Hyuse's enlistment due to the fact he was the second Neighbor to join in such a short while after Yuma, and he pessimistically claimed that "Border is going to be full of Neighbors".[11]
