The Z7213 chip is a system on a chip (SoC), developed by Zuiki and featured on the Mega Drive Mini, Astro City Mini, Astro City Mini V and Mega Drive Mini 2. It is a clone of the R16 by Allwinner, which contains a Quad-core ARM Cortex-A7 and a Dual-core Mali-400. Before being cloned, Zuiki used the R16 on the NES Classic Edition and SNES Classic Edition, both from Nintendo.

For Mega Drive Mini 2, the Z7213 was been overclocked in order to handle proper Sega Mega-CD emulation.

History

Legacy

The SoC saw future uses on other devices by the company, such as the PC Engine mini (Konami Digital Entertainment), Egret II Mini (Taito) and the X68000 Z.
