Paon DP Inc. (株式会社パオン・ディーピー), is a video games company. Originally founded as DP Inc. (株式会社ディーピー), it was been merged with Paon Corporation (株式会社パオン) in March 2015; being owned by the CEO of Daito Giken.
Company
The company is mainly known for owning the rights of several Data East games, such as Chelnov, Kuuga, Wolf Fang SS Kuuga 2001 and Skull Fang: Kuuga Gaiden. However, the company does not own the rights to the Data East name and respective logos, which further requires a license from G-Mode for re-releases of their games. Paon DP licensed its games hailing from Sega Enterprises hardware for Project EGG, Mega Drive Mini 2 and Saturn Tribute over the years.
Paon was originally founded in January 20, 1999. It started their game development business as a subcontractor for other companies. After their merging with DP, Paon was closed and DP is the surviving entity of the current company.
Paon DP also worked with Nintendo by licensing elements of the Heracles no Eikou series for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in 2018.
