Laurent Lafforgue is a French mathematician. He has made important contributions to [[Langlands program]] in the fields of number theory and analysis, and in particular proved the Langlands conjectures for the automorphism group of a function field. He has emphasised the importance of investigating the technique 'toposes as bridges' in connection to the Langlands program. Explicitly mentioning the work of [[Olivia Caramello]]. In 2002, he received the Fields Medal together with [[Vladimir Voevodsky]]. He is a permanent professor at the [[math institutions|IHÉS]]. ###Publications, preprints, Seminar notes etc. ###References * [Homepage](http://www.ihes.fr/~lafforgue/) * [Wikipedia (English)](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laurent_Lafforgue) category:people
