Wildflowers are a thin decorative flower that can be placed four times in the space of one block, similar to pink petals and leaf litter.
Obtaining
[edit | edit source]Breaking
[edit | edit source]Wildflowers can be broken instantly with any item or by hand.
| Block | ||
|---|---|---|
| Hardness | 0 | |
| Breaking time (secs) | ||
| Default | 0.05 (JE) 0.05 (BE) | |
- incorrect tool, drops nothing
- correct tool, drops nothing or something other than the block itself
- correct tool, drops the block itself
- italicized can be instant mined
Wildflowers are also removed and drop as an item if:
- its attachment block is moved, removed, or destroyed.
- water or lava flows into its space.
- a piston tries to push it or moves a block into its space.
- it is placed on a mud block, and that mud block converts to clay.
The amount of wildflower items dropped is equal to how many were present in the block space beforehand (i.e. a wildflower block with 3 placed drops 3 wildflowers when destroyed).
Natural generation
[edit | edit source]
Wildflowers generate naturally in birch forests, old growth birch forests and meadows. Naturally generated wildflowers have a random number of flowers. Unlike most other vegetation features, they do not generate in the unused birch forest hills and tall birch hills biomes.
Wildflowers also generate in abandoned camps.
Post-generation
[edit | edit source]Each time bone meal is applied to wildflowers, they drop a copy of themselves, similar to tall flowers.
Wildflowers also generate when bone meal is applied to a grass block in birch forests, old growth birch forests and meadows.
Trading
[edit | edit source]Wandering traders may sell one wildflower for 1 emerald.
| Villager | Probability | Villager wants | Player receives | Trades in stock | Villager experience | Price multiplier | ||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| JE | BE | |||||||
| Ordinary | 6% | 6% | 12 | — | — | |||
Mob loot
[edit | edit source]In Bedrock Edition, wandering traders have a chance of 25% (increased by 1% per level of Looting) to drop one wildflower when killed while showing the item as trade offer, if the player holds an emerald.
Usage
[edit | edit source]Up to four pieces of wildflowers can be placed in a single block space.
Crafting ingredient
[edit | edit source]| Name | Ingredients | Crafting recipe |
|---|---|---|
| Yellow Dye | Wildflowers |
Bees
[edit | edit source]Bees can pollinate wildflowers like other flowers. They can also be bred using wildflowers.
Bee nests
[edit | edit source]Oak, birch, and cherry trees grown from saplings that are within 2 blocks of wildflowers have a 5% chance to grow with a bee nest containing 2-3 bees.
Composting
[edit | edit source]Placing wildflowers into a composter has a 30% chance of raising the compost level by 1.
Color
[edit | edit source]The coloration of the green stems below wildflowers is dependent on the biome they are in. A block always uses the color set to its location, regardless of how it was placed or of its source.
These values are generated by the biome dyeing algorithm. See Biome colors for more information.
