A mundane potion is a potion that provides no effects. In Bedrock Edition, it can be used to brew potions of Weakness.

Usage

Base potion

In Bedrock Edition:

Only usable as an alternative base for potion of Weakness. Long mundane potions cannot be obtained in Survival mode. It can only be brewed into an extended potion of Weakness.

Lingering potion

In Bedrock Edition, a lingering mundane potion acts similar to the lingering water bottle, being able to extinguish burning entities and damage endermen, blazes, and snow golems, but without the ability to put out fires.

			Beta 1.9 Prerelease 3				Brewing stands have been implemented, making mundane potions obtainable without mods. They are brewed by adding redstone to a water bottle.

							Mundane potions can now be brewed by adding a ghast tear, blaze powder, magma cream, glistering melon, sugar, or spider eye to a water bottle.
							The mundane potion brewed using any of the items listed above is technically different from the mundane potion obtained with redstone: if fermented spider eye is added to a redstone-derived mundane potion, the resulting Weakness potion is extended, otherwise it has the base duration; additionally, the redstone-derived mundane potion cannot be brewed into a splash mundane potion using gunpowder.
