Summary

[edit | edit source]

The video begins with an animation of Valorie in a forest at night fighting off zombies, with a soul floating and going into a creeper, causing it to turn a glowing neon blue. Valorie tries to attack the creeper, but to her surprise it remains unfazed and shakes off her attack. It then attempts to explode before a flash of pink light knocks away the surrounding zombies, with Kellen swooping in and smashing the creeper away with a blunt object, causing a blue explosion off-screen.

Ren and Flores then jump into frame to pose with Kellen, but another creeper behind them suddenly turns neon blue with souls emitting from it. Valorie gives a slight smirk before charging off at the creeper, dodging multiple monsters (some neon blue and some normal) before jumping on its head and causing it to explode. More monsters surrounding Valorie turn neon blue, and as she jumps off at them, the animation transitions into actual gameplay footage of Valorie and various heroes defeating mobs and playing the game.

The transition ends with the four animated heroes coming up to a cliff, overlooking a break in the forest with monsters surrounding a sculk patch with many souls coming out of its luminous center. Suddenly, the ground shakes and the heroes brace themselves as the Twisted Warden approaches from behind. It opens the large mouth on its stomach and screams, with the heroes entering a battle stance.

The animation breaks with the animated Minecraft Dungeons II logo appearing on a blue background, with the text "COMING SOON SEPTEMBER 29, 2026" fading in below and audio of a rock guitar riff playing.

The music fades away as the animation resumes, with a zombie walking in the forest surrounded by souls. Suddenly, an electric like effect appears in front of it. The zombie stares as it expands like a sonic boom into a luminous and blocky break in scenery, with particles and an electric like effect emitting from it. The camera pans into the break and the video quickly fades to black.

During our partnership with Mojang, we performed lots of tests with The Turbos (Fabien Meyran & Benoît de Geyer d'Orth) where we combined the desired art direction with the game's branding to find the right balance. This is the approved version but you may notice that it's still not quite the final result we see in trailer!" – @brunch.studio.tv on Instagram, August 31, 2026
  4. ↑ "Here's another test we produced with directors The Turbos (Fabien Meyran & Benoît de Geyer d'Orth) when first developing the Dungeons II trailer for Minecraft. You'll note that this time, it's not from a scene in the final film as we were still in an ideation phase, but wanted to develop lighting effects, compositing, and, especially, VFX.

The latter was the real challenge. Like the surface textures, it was essential that we find the sweet spot between creating an immersive animation spectacle and an authentic piece that represents Minecraft's visual identity.

What do you think? Nailed it?

Not quite but we're close, especially if you compare it with the in-game effects from the first Dungeons! While the handmade 2D explosion has a rich organic quality, it doesn't quite capture the Minecraft essence. Compare this with the final film and you'll see it features a vibrant glow with a quintessentially Minecraft blockiness. "
