The Aurora Cape is a cape that was given out to players by participating in a WatchTime Quest both on TikTok and Twitch. It was part of a promotion for Minecraft Dungeons II.[1]

Appearance

[edit | edit source]

The cape's design has a blue-orange-yellow gradient resembling the Sift's sky as seen in Dungeons II[2] with white dots on the back.

The elytra form looks similar, with pointed edges around the wings and a general white and pale green outline.

Distribution

[edit | edit source]

Players can receive this cape by redeeming a code, which could have been obtained by either participating on one of these two platforms:[note 1]

This could be done from September 29 at 07:00 UTC, through October 15, 2026, at 06:59 UTC.[5] Codes for the cape are slated to expire October 31, 2026.[6]

This task could not be completed normally in regions where the streaming platforms or their rewards programs were unavailable. Players in these regions could obtain the cape by using a proxy/VPN, traveling to regions where they were available, or receiving a code from another player.

History

[edit | edit source]
September 28, 2026 The promotion is announced on multiple social media platforms.[7][8][5]
September 29, 2026 Distribution began at 07:00 UTC.
The cape was at this point mistakenly awarded on Twitch for watching streams in the Minecraft category instead of the Minecraft Dungeons II category.
Shortly after release, Twitch ran out of codes and has yet to get more. This means that anyone who receives the cape on Twitch cannot claim it until Twitch receives more codes.[3][4]
September 30, 2026 The cape is now correctly awarded on Twitch for watching streams in the Minecraft Dungeons II category.
October 2, 2026 Twitch codes are no longer available according to Twitch support.
October 15, 2026 Distribution has ended at 06:59 UTC.
Upcoming
October 31, 2026 Codes are set to expire around this time.[6]

Trivia

[edit | edit source]
  • The cape is based on a "spare" Minecraft Dungeons II cape concept resembling the Sift, which Marc Watson and two other artists adapted.[9]
    • Watson has said that "at least 6 people were involved in its design over time."[10]
  • The cape was referred to as the "CCC Item" on the page to redeem the cape before being renamed to “Aurora Cape”.
  • Not in history, but TikTok codes were refreshed on Oct 7, 2026

Notes

[edit | edit source]
  1. ↑ The livestream in question needed to have its respective platform's rewards program enabled.
  2. ↑ There have been reports of redemption failing.[3][4] With previous Twitch events to obtain, such as the Builder and the Corrupted Creeper Cape, there have been an undisclosed finite amount of codes that can run out regardless of unlocking the drop the second it becomes available.
