About Mini Metro

Mini Metro is a puzzle game in which you must create and manage a subway system. You’ll need to connect the various stations to transport passengers as efficiently as possible.

A mix of strategy and network-building, Mini Metro challenges you to create connections and subway lines as new stations appear. These stations are revealed randomly on the map as the game progresses, and passengers arrive at each station. You’ll need to constantly reorganize your network and do your best to avoid delays.

From Paris to New York, via London and Tokyo, your routes must adapt to the changing needs of each city to get every passenger to their destination. The game is available on PC, mobile devices, and gaming consoles, including PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.

Why Should I Play Mini Metro?

In Mini Metro, you must build and manage a subway system. At the start of each game, the city has only three stations. You must connect them by drawing subway lines, allowing passengers to travel to their destinations.

As the game progresses, the city expands and new stations appear. The number of passengers also increases. Each station can accommodate only a limited number of people, so you must regularly adjust your lines to prevent platforms from becoming overcrowded. Each week, you receive new resources to expand your network. You can use them to add lines, trains, and other elements, but you’ll need to choose your upgrades wisely, as resources are limited.

The game can quickly become challenging. If too many stations appear or passengers have to wait too long, your network may eventually become overloaded. Your goal is to keep the subway running efficiently for as long as possible.

Mini Metro offers several game modes. Normal mode lets you play for a high score, while Endless mode allows you to play without pressure. Extreme mode offers a greater challenge, and Creative mode lets you build your network according to your own rules.

The game also features more than two dozen real-world cities, including Paris, London, New York, Osaka, and Istanbul. Each city has its own map, obstacles, and pace of development. As the city grows randomly, every game is different. The music also evolves in response to your network. You can further customize your experience with colorblind and night modes.

Finally, Mini Metro offers a collection of player-created maps through the Steam Workshop. You can also save and share your own creations.

What Games Should I Play If I Enjoy Mini Metro?

If you enjoy Mini Metro and its line-drawing mechanics, you might also like these puzzle games.

Cosmic Express replaces the subway with a small train that travels through a space colony. You must pick up aliens and drop them off at the homes that match their colors. The main difference from Mini Metro lies in the gameplay mechanics: the train can carry only one passenger at a time, tracks cannot cross, and each space can be used only once. You’ll therefore need to plan the order of your stops before sending the train on its way. There’s no timer, so the game focuses more on strategic thinking than on managing a network that changes in real time. The levels gradually become more challenging, with new elements introduced as you progress.

Spooky Express builds on some of Cosmic Express’s ideas, but in a world populated by vampires, zombies, and other creatures. You must build tracks to guide each passenger home. Vampires must reach their coffins, zombies their graves, and humans must be taken to safety. As in Cosmic Express, each car carries only one passenger at a time, and tracks cannot cross. The main difference is the atmosphere. The levels feature small scenes inspired by Transylvania, accompanied by soundtracks tailored to each environment. The game includes more than 200 levels.

RGB Express takes a different approach to Mini Metro. Here, there are no trains or passengers. Instead, you must plan routes for several delivery trucks, each associated with a specific color. Every truck must pick up the correct package and deliver it to the matching house. You map out the routes for all the vehicles before starting the game. The challenge lies in coordinating their movements: a truck cannot pass through the same spot twice, and routes must not cross. Some levels introduce bridges, buttons, and package transfers between trucks. With 400 levels to complete, RGB Express offers puzzles that focus more on coordinating multiple vehicles.
