The Options Menu has been reworked in the remaster, having new categorized menus as well as a couple extra options. In "Game Settings," it's now possible to change the language setting directly within the game. The player also has the option to turn lives on or off with the Challenge Tries setting. In "Sound Settings," the player can adjust the volume of the voices, which was not an option in the 2011 game.

Moveset Change for Modern Sonic

Something else to note is that the moveset for Modern Sonic has been updated in the remaster. The 2011 game's moveset was similar to that of Sonic Unleashed, while the remaster's moveset was updated to match that of Sonic Frontiers. The player can switch between these movesets by using the Standard or Legacy option in "Control Settings."

The Statue Room can now be visited simply by pressing the designated button to travel to it, whereas the player needed to hold the Select button for 3 seconds to travel to it. All of the statues are also in the room by default, whereas the player needed to manually enter the codes for each statue in the 2011 game.

New Additions

Drop Dash

Classic Sonic

Classic Sonic was given the Drop Dash ability first seen in Sonic Mania, which is a separate skill for Classic Sonic included in the default Skill Set. The controls of this ability are similar to the same ability from Sonic Forces.

Modern Sonic

Modern Sonic has the Drop Dash as well, which is included in his moveset by default. The ability's controls are similar to the same ability from Sonic Frontiers.
