  2. fix: use explicit types for FS interface 

    the types from `fs` module contain unnecessary things like
`__promisify` etc. which we don't need or use.

  3. fix: don't add a sep if path contains any kind of sep at end 

    previously we were only checking for the user given path sep but
this caused issues if user specified path contained some other
separator e.g. user set path separator to `/` but gave path as
`some-root\` the result would be `some-root\/`.
