IDLE sizes its windows from the configured number of lines without regard to the screen, and Windows, unlike other window managers, does not keep a too tall window in the work area. When a window is first mapped, move it up as far as the work area allows, then shorten the text if it still does not fit. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <[email protected]>

IDLE sizes its windows from the configured number of lines and leaves the placement to the window manager. X11 and macOS window managers keep a too tall window inside the work area, but Windows does not, so the bottom of the default 80×40 Shell can end up behind the taskbar (on a 768 pixel high screen, by 40 pixels).
Once a window is mapped, move it up as far as the work area of its monitor allows, and if it still does not fit, shorten the text. Only Windows reports the work area (
GetMonitorInfo); elsewhere nothing changes.I have doubts about this. The code is quite complex, and on modern computers the screen is usually large enough, so it fixes a rare issue. Remembering the window geometry, discussed in #68125, would be a different solution.
