What issue are you seeing?
Codex Remote Control pairing fails between the Windows desktop app and the ChatGPT Android app.
The Windows app successfully enables Control this PC and generates a QR code. The QR code is valid and points to a https://chatgpt.com/codex/pair?... URL.
On Android, scanning/starting the pairing flow does not complete. Initially the QR scanning flow closes immediately; subsequent attempts show “Pairing failed.”
The Android ChatGPT app was completely reinstalled, signed back into the same account, and a fresh QR code was generated, but pairing still fails.
This may be a regression in the current Windows/Android Remote Control pairing flow after the latest app updates, but I cannot determine whether the failure is on the desktop app, Android app, or pairing backend.
Steps to reproduce
- Open ChatGPT/Codex on Windows, version 26.721.41059.
- Go to Settings → Connections → Control this PC.
- Enable remote control and generate a new QR code.
- Open ChatGPT for Android 1.2026.202 (25).
- Scan/open the Codex pairing QR code.
- Pairing fails on Android.
Expected behavior
The Android device should pair with the Windows Codex host and allow Remote Control.
Actual behavior
The Android pairing flow closes/fails and displays “Pairing failed.” The Windows PC never becomes usable from Android.
Troubleshooting already tried
- Reinstalled ChatGPT on Android.
- Signed back into the same OpenAI account.
- Confirmed the Android app is version 1.2026.202 (25).
- Confirmed the Windows app is version 26.721.41059.
- Generated a fresh QR code after reinstalling.
- Confirmed the QR itself decodes to an official
chatgpt.com/codex/pair URL.
There are older reports of Android ↔ Windows Remote Control failures, but I did not find an existing report matching these current app versions and this exact pairing-failed behavior.
