Claude Code reads AGENTS.md natively since 2.1.277 (2026-09-18) through the built-in agents-md mod (anthropics/claude-code#95409, #95417). In the default "claude-md-or-agents-md" mode a directory without CLAUDE.md loads its AGENTS.md, while an existing CLAUDE.md hides it. The "@AGENTS.md" import shims are therefore redundant; Docs links now point to AGENTS.md.

Adds the source of the
agents-mdmod undermods/agents-md, in the same layout assec-default,diffandtelemetry: manifest,hooks/module,tests/forclaude plugin test, and a README. The mod readsAGENTS.mdthe way the engine readsCLAUDE.md, under one option,instructionFiles(claude-md,claude-md-or-agents-mdthe default,claude-md-and-agents-md,managed-only; a value under the earlierprojectInstructionskey is still honoured), onprompt.context's instruction files,tool.callonRead,agent.spawnand$.fs.ancestors. Also refreshesmods/types/claude-code.d.tsto the 2.1.277 declarations and namesisLinkin the onedifftest fixture that fakesfs.listandfs.statvalues. Checked:tsc -p mods/tsconfig.json,claude plugin validate mods/agents-md, andclaude plugin teston every mod under 2.1.276 and 2.1.277.
