Summary

This PR adds a Linux/macOS-compatible Bash script for DevContainer startup.

Problem

Previously, the repository only included a Windows PowerShell script (run_devcontainer_claude_code.ps1) for launching the DevContainer.
This limited usability for Linux and macOS users.

Solution

  • Added a Bash script equivalent for Linux/macOS (run_devcontainer_claude_code.sh)
  • Accepts a --backend flag (docker or podman, defaults to docker)
  • Validates that required commands (devcontainer + backend) are installed
  • Handles Podman machine initialization and startup on Linux/macOS
  • Verifies Docker daemon is running when using Docker backend
  • Brings up the DevContainer via devcontainer CLI
  • Locates the running container ID using label filtering
  • Opens an interactive zsh session running 'claude' inside the container

Impact

Improves cross-platform support, making DevContainer workflow accessible to a wider developer base.

Notes

Tested locally on Linux/macOS environment.

The Script/ directory previously only contained a Windows PowerShell
script (run_devcontainer_claude_code.ps1) for launching the DevContainer.
This commit adds an equivalent Bash script for Linux and macOS users.

The new script (run_devcontainer_claude_code.sh):
- Accepts a --backend flag (docker or podman, defaults to docker)
- Validates that required commands (devcontainer + backend) are installed
- Handles Podman machine initialization and startup on Linux/macOS
- Verifies Docker daemon is running when using Docker backend
- Brings up the DevContainer via devcontainer CLI
- Locates the running container ID using label filtering
- Opens an interactive zsh session running 'claude' inside the container

This mirrors the full functionality of the existing PowerShell script,
making the DevContainer workflow accessible to Linux and macOS users
without requiring any Windows-specific tooling.
