Desktop app turns off Remote Control on all Code sessions after every restart/auto-update; can't be re-enabled automatically #96220

Description

@nimbice

Environment: Claude desktop app (Code tab), Windows 11 Home 10.0.26200

What happens:

  1. Remote Control is on for several local Code sessions.
  2. The app restarts, often after a silent auto-update.
  3. Every session comes back with Remote Control off. The sessions disappear from claude.ai/code and the mobile app (they are not archived).
  4. The only fix is to open the desktop app and flip the switch on each session. When away from the PC, that means remoting into it (RDP from a phone), sometimes several times a day.

Workaround attempted: A desktop scheduled task that calls set_remote_control(enabled: true) on recently active sessions. Every call is refused with:

This tool is unavailable in unattended sessions (scheduled-task runs and remote-dispatched trees).

So there is no supported way to restore Remote Control automatically.

Expected: Remote Control stays on across app restarts and updates for sessions that had it on. Failing that, provide a supported way to turn it back on automatically (e.g. a "keep Remote Control on" setting, or allowing a scheduled task to re-enable sessions the user already enabled).

Impact: Remote Control stops working exactly when it's needed, when the user is away from the machine.
