[BUG] Creates directories in ~/.claude/projects that start with a dash/hyphen. #4242
Operating System: Linux gnosis 5.15.0-144-generic Add NPM version badge #157-Ubuntu SMP Mon Jun 16 07:33:10 UTC 2025 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Terminal: terminal within PyCharm
Bug Description
Why is claude creating directories that start with a dash. I checked because I wanted to see where the memory files were stored, like ~/.claude/CLAUDE.md. No such file exists. Not quite sure what to put in there and would expect Claude to manage this. Claude terminal crashed, launched Claude again and it lost my TODO list after stating it would maintain and track a TODO list. It seems odd that the Web version of Claude tracks a project ID, but Claude code does not. The Web version gets very slow, Claude Code is always responsive. But if it has to relearn my project every time I run it and I'm paying for it, it seems like it's missing a basic functionality.
Steps to Reproduce
Open a project in pycharm, select a terminal, type claude
Open another Pycharm window, go to terminals, type claude. The first one will crash.
Expected Behavior
No crash and loss of session data
Actual Behavior
Crashed my main project and lost all session data.
