DeepSeek-v4-flash-free model missing from OpenCode's Zen provider dropdown despite existing in /zen/v1/models API #43805

This issue might be a duplicate of or related to existing issues. Please check:
- Custom provider models missing from /model TUI picker provider sections in 1.18.10 — caused by recents filter #40592: Custom provider models missing from /model TUI picker provider sections — also reports models missing from the picker dropdown, though the root cause there is a recents filter affecting custom providers. The symptoms are similar; it may be worth reviewing that issue to see if the same mechanism could apply here.
Tried deleting ~/.cache/opencode/models.json as recommended in #40592 — did not resolve the issue. deepseek-v4-flash-free is still absent from the dropdown.
Note: #40592 was about custom providers affected by a recents filter. This is a built-in Zen provider model that appears in the API but is missing from the opencode provider section of the picker. Different root cause, same symptom.
@MauPeCR I think they removed the model as it says free promotion for DeepSeek V4 Flash Free has ended so it might be gone forever I think

Thanks for the report. The limited-time DeepSeek V4 Flash Free promotion has ended, so deepseek-v4-flash-free is no longer available in the model picker. This is intentional rather than a TUI bug.
We’ve recently added new free alternatives through OpenCode, including:
- Ox Alpha Free
- Muse Spark 1.2 Contributor Free
- And several others
We recommend updating OpenCode to the latest version for the best experience with Ox Alpha, then selecting it through /models.
The paid deepseek-v4-flash model also remains available through OpenCode Zen. See the Zen documentation for the current model list and applicable data terms.
Noted. Thanks!

That's a shame. Thanks for the heads-up!
they have removed DeepSeek V4 Flash Free as the promotional offer ended. you can get it back by subscribing to Zen go
Adding a data point: this also affects big-pickle, not just deepseek-v4-flash-free.
On OpenCode Desktop 1.18.23 → 1.18.29 (Windows), with a Zen workspace where only big-pickle and deepseek-v4-flash-free are enabled in Model Access:
GET https://opencode.ai/zen/v1/models(authenticated) returns exactly these 2 model IDs, nothing else.~/.cache/opencode/models.json(local catalog cache) has a full, valid entry forbig-pickleunder theopencodeprovider (cost 0/0, context 200000, no alpha/deprecated status) — so it's not a missing-catalog-data issue.- Neither model appears in the Desktop app's picker (confirmed via manual scroll and exact-name search for both "pickle" and "deepseek").
- Instead the picker shows ~20 other opencode/Zen models that are not enabled for this account at all.
- Persists after a full process kill (Task Manager, all 6-7 OpenCode.exe instances) + relaunch, and across the 1.18.23 → 1.18.29 auto-update.
So this looks like the same root cause tracked in #40524 (client catalog not reconciled with authenticated /models endpoint), just reproducible with a different model pair. Happy to provide full config/log excerpts if useful.
Description
The deepseek-v4-flash-free model is listed in the Zen API response at https://opencode.ai/zen/v1/models, and is correctly referenced in my opencode.json config ("model": "opencode/deepseek-v4-flash-free"), but it does not appear in the OpenCode TUI's model picker dropdown under the opencode (Zen) provider.
This model should be available for selection, as it exists in the API and is configured as an agent. All other Zen models (e.g., mimo-v2.5-free, nemotron-3-ultra-free) appear correctly in the dropdown, but deepseek-v4-flash-free is missing.
What happened?
When opening the model picker dropdown in OpenCode TUI and filtering by the opencode provider, deepseek-v4-flash-free is not listed, even though:
The Zen API returns it: {"id":"deepseek-v4-flash-free","object":"model","created":1787289055,"owned_by":"opencode"}
It is configured as the orchestrator model: "model": "opencode/deepseek-v4-flash-free"
Other Zen models appear correctly in the same dropdown
Plugins
None installed. Using default OpenCode plugins only.
OpenCode version
v1.18.19
Steps to reproduce

N/A — this is a model listing issue, not a visual rendering bug. The model simply does not appear in the dropdown despite being valid in the API.
