Talcc is a macOS menu bar application designed for quick audio recording, transcription, and AI-powered summarization.
- Menu Bar Access: Start and stop recordings quickly from the menu bar.
- Live Transcription: See the transcription appear in real-time as you speak (using macOS Speech Recognition).
- AI Summarization: Generate concise summaries of your transcriptions using OpenAI.
- Live Questions: Get AI-suggested questions based on the ongoing transcription to prompt further discussion.
- Waveform Visualization: See audio levels visualized in the menu bar while recording.
- Recording History: Browse past recordings, view transcriptions/summaries, and copy content.
- Configurable: Set your OpenAI API key, customize the summarization prompt, and configure a global hotkey.

- Xcode (latest version recommended)
- An OpenAI API Key (for summarization and live questions)
- Clone the repository:
git clone <repository-url> cd talcc
- Open the project in Xcode:
open Talcc/Talcc.xcodeproj
- Configure API Key:
- Run the app once.
- Click the menu bar icon, then the gear icon to open Settings.
- Enter your OpenAI API key in the designated field.
- Build and run the project using Xcode (select the
Talcctarget and your Mac).
- Click the menu bar icon: Opens the main popover.
- Record/Stop Button: Start or stop audio recording.
- History Button: Opens the recording history window.
- Settings Button: Opens the settings panel.
- Global Hotkey: Press the configured hotkey (default: Cmd+Shift+Space) to toggle the main popover.
