Building strong employer partnerships is one thing. Turning those partnerships into meaningful work-based learning opportunities for students at scale is another. This week at the 2026 Convergence: Credential Innovation in Higher Education, presented by UPCEA and AACRAO, Dr. Mara "Red" Woody, Ed.D., Riipen’s Director, Strategic Partnerships, joined Steve Jurch of the ACCT (Association of Community College Trustees) to explore how institutions are building employer partnerships, designing workforce-aligned programs, and implementing work-based learning through the Workforce Futures Accelerator Project. Mara also joined leaders from Education Design Lab and the UW-Stout Polytechnic for a workshop on connecting credentials, employer engagement, and work-based learning in response to an evolving labor market. What stood out across both discussions was the importance of keeping learners at the center of workforce program design. From the University of Wisconsin-Stout's work on employer-responsive programs and more accessible credit for prior learning, to Education Design Lab's learner-first approach, the sessions highlighted how institutions are finding new ways to balance workforce needs with student success. Steve Jurch also emphasized how the Workforce Futures Accelerator supports both colleges and learners, an important consideration for building programs that can succeed over the long term. Thank you to ACCT, UPCEA, AACRAO, and everyone who connected with Mara and Riipen's Directors of Partnerships, Dr. Jillian Murray and Erin Stine, at Convergence. Time management is more than getting everything done on time. It is how people make thoughtful choices when priorities compete: deciding what needs attention first, planning around deadlines, adjusting when circumstances change, and communicating when timelines are at risk. For students, time management is a skill they can build, reflect on, and use to prioritize competing responsibilities without losing sight of their commitments. For educators, it becomes easier to teach, observe, and assess when students practice time management in real-world project contexts. For employers, it helps show how emerging talent prioritizes responsibilities, manages shifting demands, and keeps work moving without losing sight of deadlines. Real project experience gives students a place to practice time management with real priorities, real deadlines, and real people depending on their work. Employers, let talented students help take data analysis off your plate. Many organizations have data they could learn from, but not always the time or capacity to analyze it. Through Riipen, employers can turn data needs into real project opportunities for students. Students can support data analysis, reporting, trend identification, research synthesis, dashboard planning, or other projects that help teams make sense of information and identify useful next steps. As Charity White of California Black Health Network shared through a Riipen-supported student project, student support helped uncover meaningful insights in the data and turn them into clearer next steps for the team. Have data your team has not had time to analyze? 👉 Learn how Riipen can help: https://hubs.li/Q04sWdSs0 #DataAnalysis #EmployerEngagement #WorkIntegratedLearning #ExperientialLearning #Riipen

What should a student have learned, experienced, and be able to demonstrate by the time they graduate? Degree completion matters. But as students look toward employment, they’re also asking whether their education has given them meaningful opportunities to apply what they know in professional settings. On October 22, Riipen and Tyton Partners - Strategy Consulting are coming together to explore how institutions can strengthen the connection between academic learning, real work experience, and employment in our webinar, “From degree to employment: Connecting learning with real work experience.” Drawing on Tyton Partners’ Driving Toward a Degree 2026 research and Riipen’s Closing the Capacity Gap research, we’ll examine: ✔️ What student success can look like beyond degree completion. ✔️ How real work experience can support the transition from education to employment. ✔️ Where institutions can focus investment to strengthen career-connected learning. ✔️ What needs to change to make these experiences more accessible and scalable? ✔️ How institutions can build evidence of progress. Joining the conversation with Catherine Shaw, Associate Partner and Head of Innovation & Delivery Excellence at Tyton Partners, and Jennifer Albrecht, Riipen’s Senior Vice President, Revenue & Partnerships, on October 22 at 2pm ET. If connecting a degree more intentionally to what comes next for students is part of your institution’s priorities, you’ll want to join us. 🔗 Register here: https://hubs.li/Q04zDyCg0 #HigherEducation #StudentSuccess #CareerReadiness #ExperientialLearning #WorkIntegratedLearning Tyton Partners is a strategy consulting and investment banking firm focused on the education sector.
