Everything else was fine, but I was disappointed that we couldn’t check into our room before 3:00 PM. I had informed the hotel in advance that we would be arriving early, as our flight landed in Berlin at 9:00 AM. We left our luggage at the hotel and returned at 2:00 PM, but our room still wasn’t ready. It would have been nice to have access to our room earlier, especially since we had informed the hotel of our early arrival in advance.

I am a returning guest at this hotel—this is my third visit this year—and I am also a member of the chain’s loyalty program. Unfortunately, the customer service team lacked any proactive initiative. I had emailed them in advance, explaining that I would be arriving early following an early morning flight, and asked if they could check whether I might be able to access my room ahead of schedule. They simply replied that I could check upon arrival—an obvious point, and certainly not the reason I had reached out beforehand. While I certainly didn't expect a guaranteed early check-in, I did hope they would at least make an effort—perhaps by checking with the housekeeping team to see if my room could be prioritized. Sadly, there was no such proactive effort on their part. Consequently, upon arrival, I was forced to wait until 2:30 PM to get my room. Even while I was waiting, they merely checked the computer to see if the room was marked as "ready," without making any attempt to contact the housekeeping staff to inquire about its status or request that it be prioritized. When I finally got my room, I was disappointed to find that the room with the balcony—which I had booked—was smaller than usual, as was the balcony itself. Most bizarrely, there was a window from the adjacent room that looked directly onto my balcony (leaving absolutely no privacy). I went down to the front desk to see if it might be possible to change rooms—perhaps even for the coming days—but, unfortunately, I once again encountered a lack of proactiveness on the part of the reception staff. At first, the receptionist told me she was finishing her shift and that I should come back tomorrow morning—as if the hotel ceases to function the moment her shift ends. I suggested that her colleagues look into the matter, but that seemed to be too complicated for them. I even tried offering suggestions on what they could check (for instance, whether any guests might be vacating a similar room tomorrow), but it appeared to be simply beyond their capabilities.

Location is fantastic - right next to KaDeWe mall and restaurants around. Rooms were large for European standards, clean and comfortable. The picture of the girl in the room and shower is definitely odd - we got over it quickly, but I can certainly understand why others may have found it disturbing. There were stairs in the hallway leading to the rooms - can be challenging if you have a baby stroller or lots of luggage. Would have preferred if this was informed to us at check-in. Hotel entrance is also away from the main road, and it is a cobblestone pathway. Very inconvenient for bags as taxi/Uber cannot stop right in front of the hotel. Hotel breakfast was good, free flow of filtered water, staff are friendly. Overall, was a pleasant stay and would consider again.
